The Mission of the Chelsea Area Historical Society is to gather and preserve Chelsea area history, educate the public, and promote the restoration and preservation of historic buildings and sites for future generations. At our museum, the 1853 Boyd House opposite the Chelsea Train Depot, visitors will find 4 rooms of wonderful displays detailing the rich history of Chelsea and its people. Among the hundreds of items on display you will find the rare 1911 Flanders motorbike which was built just across the railroad tracks in the Clock Tower complex. You will also find our newly constructed “Fire House” containing items related to the history of fires and the fire department – but most importantly, our late 1800s hand drawn fire wagon.
The Chelsea Area Historical Society also has half a dozen events throughout the year from presentations to walks tours. Private and group tours can be arranged in advance.
