Waterloo Recreation Area is the largest park in the Lower Peninsula. The park is home to rustic, equestrian and modern campgrounds (some sites with 50 amp service), cabins/yurts, beaches, picnic areas, fishing lakes, nature trails, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, equestrian trails, swimming beaches, several picnic sites, the Gerald Eddy Discovery Center and much more.
The DTE Energy Foundation Trail is a cutting-edge, sustainable trail open to mountain biking, trail running, hiking and cross-country skiing.
Waterloo’s track chair helps visitors explore areas of the park where traditional wheelchairs might not. These off-road, electronic chairs can easily handle trails, snow, sand and up to 8 inches of water and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no cost.
