Events for High Schooleingrs after home football games
The Grass Lake Community Wellness Initiative (5 Healthy Towns) is partnering with Grass Lake Assembly of God Church to put on several safe nights for the Grass Lake High School students after the home games this season. These events are called the “5th Quarter”. For those of you who have been around for a while, the “5th Quarter” was a program that had been around until 2009, and at that time, had been hosted by the Grass Lake United Methodist Church.
“5th Quarter” will provide a supervised safe place for high school youth to gather after home football games. There are 6 nights that Grass Lake Assembly of God church will host the students at the church. Students will enjoy food, games, connections, and an encouraging message that will help students to make good choices. The goal is to provide a safe place for them to hang out after the game and discourage students from going out to party in unhealthy ways after the home games. Adult chaperones will be present. Dates will be: 8/31, 9/22 , 9/15 (Away game, but close to GL), 9/29, 10/13, and 10/20.
Please share the attached flyer with your congregation and high school aged students.
If you, your church or church members would like to donate items ( salad or veggie trays, fruit, napkins, plates, cups, forks, water bottles, lemonade, etc.) for one of the 5th quarter events, please Email Danika at firstname.lastname@example.org or text her at 262-685-1468
Another way to assist with this event is arranging carpools for the youth at your church, to get to the events after the football game.
This Grief Share support group will help you find hope after the death of a loved one. Others, who are or have struggled with grief, will walk with you through your grief process and help you to heal from the pain. Anyone that chooses to come to Grief Share can just show up and participate each week (you do not need to attend every session). Do you know anyone living with a cancer diagnosis who could use added support? It is hard to manage life after you’ve gotten a cancer diagnosis, whether that’s in early stages of treatment or trying to live well beyond active treatment, – and even with a stage 4 diagnosis. There is something you can offer to them that is an effective, Evidence-Based Program we know will benefit them called CANCER PATH. Attached is a flyer about our next program starting soon. There are a few spaces available for the August 23rd workshop and please consider taking the extra step to offer this to someone you know that could really benefit from this free, on-line program. (see attached flyer).
